Today, the Former Prime Minister of Kenya, Hon Raila Odinga, visited his Nyanza region for a burial ceremony. The ODM boss attented the final send off of Mama Ashura Saisi the wife of the deputy governor of vihiga county, hon Patrick Saisi.Mama Ashura passed on some few days ago after a long health battle.
He was given time to address the mourners. While addressing the mourners present, the opposition leader said that he had to cancel his scheduled meeting in migori to attend that urgent burial of an ODM member. That showed his concern to his people and Vihiga county at large.
"I was not aware of this death of mama, but when I was called by my friend and informed that his wife had passed and the burial was today because she's a Muslim,I had to cancel all my meetings in migori and attend this urgent issue," he said.
When the ODM party leader asked the Vihiga County Governor,Wilber Otichilo and his partner Patrick Lumumba Saisi who is his deputy to shake hands in front of the Mourners, mourners started chanting and shouting uncontrollably.
Raila said,"But before I forget I want to ask governor Otichilo and Saisi to come in front here and shake hands before me as a sign of unity and working together."
The shouts and noise from the mourners made Raila Odinga to pause his speech for about five minutes for them to settle. Indeed, it was a sign of reunion and the people were happy to see the two reconciling through handshake.
It was an unusual thing but the two happily shook hands and settled the difference between them and resolved to work together and develop their County.
