Today, Deputy President William Ruto is scheduled to announce his much-speculated choice for his running mate, putting an end to months of speculation.
Several of the DP's colleagues revealed to Saturday Nation that an event will take place today at Ruto's official mansion in Karen to name his deputy if he wins the August 9 presidential election.
Governor of Tharaka Nithi Muthomi Njuki and Chuka/Igambang'ombe MP Patrick Munene stated that they had received invitations to the 1ceremony in Nairobi. Didmus Baraza (Kimilili) and Nelson Koech, two legislators, confirmed the same.
According to Senator Irungu Kang'ata, DP Ruto was suppose to announce his running mate yesterday Friday,but he postponed it to today.
"It is now confirmed. Today, the DP will announce his running mate. I cannot speculate as to who it is," MP Baraza stated.
Monday at midnight is the deadline for presidential candidates to name and file with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Raila Odinga, a contestant for the presidency of Kenya, is also preparing to announce his running mate before the deadline, maybe on Sunday at a rally at the historic Kamkunji Grounds in Nairobi or on Monday at a special event.
