The last time President Uhuru Kenyatta was seen in a public event for the Azimio One Kenya alliance was on 26 when political parties signed documents binding them to the coalition. Since then, Mr. Kenyatta retreated from direct involvement in the Azimio la Umoja alliance presidential campaigns and allowed former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to run his campaigns.
Murathe stated that President Uhuru's conspicuous absence from Odinga's campaign was because his job in the coalition had ended in an interview that took place on May 25 with NTV.
He claims that as the chairperson of the Azimio la Umoja council, his job was to oversee setting up the structures of the coalition and putting together the ticket. In addition, he was in charge of coordinating the campaign. Murathe further added that President Uhuru Kenyatta has already played his part and will continue to serve as chair of the Azimio la Umoja council.
