ODMs David Were Takes Early Lead In Matungu In A By-election Marred By Lawlessness

By last count Orange Democratic Movement Party candidate David Were Opiyo had opened the lead to 1309 to UDAs Alex 962 and ANCs Peter Nabulindo 812.

This are preliminary results from 13 out of 116 polling stations to be counted.

In Nakuru's London Ward the UDA candidate Anthony Nzuki is leading with 1215 votes against Francis Njoroge of Jubilee at 818, and Bernard Maina at 348.

Both ODM Party and KANU had withdrawn their candidates to support Francis Njoroge of Jubilee Party. This is a sweet victory for the Tangatanga wing of Jubilee which is essentially in UDA. In Nakuru it was a covert race between Ruto and his boss Uhuru Kenyatta.

The stakes in Matungu are even higher as the tension attests. Former Sports Minister Rashid Echesa has gone underground for slapping a senior poll official. There was drama and disgrace earlier on as a female IEBC official was involved in a shocking frogmarching by goons.

Four legislators will spend the night at Bungoma Police Station cells for malpractices.

In the meantime Ford-Kenya's candidate in Kabuchai Joseph Majimbo Kalasinga is having a safe lead with close to three thousand votes between him and the runner-up.

All conclusive results will be announced in the morning.
