Former Nyeri Woman Representative Priscilla Nyokabi celebrated her 44th birthday on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, a day after general election.
It was the same day Nyokabi made a concession speech after she realized her bid for Nyeri Senator had flopped.
Provisional results showed Wahome Wamatangi, who is vying on a United Democratic Alliance ticket, was set to become the next Nyeri Senator after opening a huge gap between him and his closest opponent.
“In all seasons we give God thanks. Yellow fever has consumed us in Nyeri. but yote tisa twashukuru (all said and done), moving on," she said.
Nyokabi, a former commissioner in the National Gender and Equity Commission, was vying in President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party ticket.
Two-term Mukurwe-ini MP Kabando Kabando who was running on Narc-Kenya party also conceded defeat but vowed not to quit politics.
"Our #NyeriFirst campaign is on pro-people policy issues: basic needs = basic rights. Voters have spoken. It's my turn to concede, which I do. Congrats all winners. As always, I remain actively involved in matters of PUBLIC INTEREST. Asanteni Nyeri. Kìhooto Mbere. MOLA ATULINDE," he tweeted on Wednesday.
