Lady Justice Koome was sworn today as the Chief Justice. She is the first lady to hold such position in kenyan history since indepence. She defeated several men and woman who were interviewed together with her. She took the office oath in presence of president Uhuru Kenyatta, who promised to support her in delivering her mandate as the president of the suprime court.
After taking oath, she promised to act as per the constitution and defend the judiciary from external influence, including the executive and other strong external forces that are waiting to manipulate judgment that will be made in courts. She also pleaded with the executive to help in enough funding that will help clear cases that are pending within the courts.

Well, Orange democratic party member of Parliament, Honerable Peter Kaluma has caused mixed reaction on his Twitter handle after posting a picture of newly appointed Chief Justice Lady Justice Martha Koome. He captioned the picture with a tag " The judiciary is under lock, we're taking over the leadership space.
Though has not specified which leadership space they're going to take. Speculation are on building bridges initiative report. The bill is currently within the court premises. The attorney general Filled an Appeal which is expected to be heard and determined soon.
