ODM Youth Leaders Revive Calls to Kick Out IEBC Chairman Chebukati, Claims He is Not Fit to Lead

A number of youth leaders in the ODM party has called upon the Chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Wafula Chebukati to resign, on claims that he is not fit to lead the commission in to the next general elections.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, the youths alleged that Chebukati's leadership is questionable owing to unaccounted funds, and the blunders made in 2017 are yet to be solved.

They went on to state that the tenders announced by the commission for the past elections preparations are questionable.

"Chebukati has never accounted for Sh 9 billion that was lost in an irregular award of contracts. The Auditor General is also on record warning about the IEBC's financial status," said one of them.

"Kenyans need a reliable assurance of leadership in the IEBC and we should have a trustworthy set of leaders conducting the coming elections,' added another leader.

Their sentiments comes at a time when he Law Society of Kenya Nelson Havi announced that he was going to defend Chebukati against such calls, revealing that his term with end in January 2023.
