Mike Sonko Alleges How Ann Kananu Helped Him Evade Assassination As He Reveals The Person Behind It

Governor Mike Sonko has asserted that Ann Kananu, who succeeded him, saved his life while she was employed at Wilson Airport.

Speaking at Benjamin Mwenda's initiation ceremony in Tharaka Nithi County's Ganga ward, Sonko claimed that once Kananu gained considerable political clout, some of the nation's top officials viewed him as a threat and plotted to have him killed in a plane crash.

He claimed that after realizing they couldn't control the residents of the cities and that he had earned the hearts of the people of Nairobi and Kenya as a whole through his good deeds, the politicians plotted to get rid of him.

He claimed that after learning about the carefully planned assignation scheme, he ceased making reservations for helicopters in his name and that Kananu might assist him in hiring a covert helicopter for his movements.

He claimed that the helicopter could pick him up at a secret location along Thika Road and fly him undetected to his desired destination.

He said that in May 2018 he appointed Kananu as the top officer in charge of disaster management and coordination as a thank you for her excellent performance; she picked her as his deputy.

After Sonko went without a deputy governor following Polycarp Igathe's resignation in January 2018, Kananu was proposed as the new deputy governor in January 2020.

When former president Uhuru Kenyatta successfully organized his assassination, Sonko claimed that they chose Kananu as his replacement without realizing that they were close friends.

Sonko attempted to prevent Kananu from taking office as governor, but the Court of Appeal justices determined that his request did not meet the requirements for the order to be issued.

The bench also noted that Sonko had not cited the swearing-in of Kananu as one of his reasons for appealing.

Sonko claimed that Kananu continued to confer with him even after he assumed control of the Nairobi governorship, and that at one time, Uhuru threatened to organize her removal if she was discovered to be with him.

"Uhuru never knew that Kananu was my wonderful friend and that we used to get together at night and that she backed me financially in my Mombasa governorship bids even though the bid was unsuccessful," he claimed.
