Ruto's message to leaders after the attack of Jimmy Wanjigi has sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans.

Deputy President, William Ruto has strongly condemned a section of leaders whom he accused of hiring youth to cause chaos and violence against opponents visiting at their political bark yards.

Making reference to what happened to Jimmy Wanjigi in Homa Bay Migori, Ruto termed such political tactics as primitive. A section of Kenyans joined him in condemning the act saying that Kenya needs peace and good leadership than anything else.

The Deputy President was in the Western region drumming up support for his 2022 Presidential bid in Kakamega County. The DP took issue with the recent violent attacks on leaders visiting their opponents political backyards.

"It is primitive and backward for any leader to organize thuggery and hooliganism using the young people of Kenya. The young people of Kenya want jobs. They want to do business. They want to run their enterprises. You cannot misuse them to throw stones so that you can protect your political interests," said DP Ruto.

On Friday, businessman and long time ODM leader ally, Jimmy Wanjigi, who is seeking 2022 ODM presidential ticket was attacked by rowdy youth while addressing a crowd in Migori town.

ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi has condemned such violence saying it threatens the safety and stability of the nation ahead of the 2022 general election. "We don't want to toxic politics," Musalia said.
