Kenya's Iron Lady Who Has Advised 3 Presidents

Dr Monica Kathina Juma is a Kenyan scholar who holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Nairobi, a Masters and PhD in Refugee Studies from Oxford University in London United Kingdom. She is the new Kenya's iron lady who has served now three Kenyan presidents as an advisor, and also she has a successful career in public service since she was first introduced in government by the late President Mwai Kibaki.

According to a report by Sunday Nation Newspaper today, the appointment of Dr Monica Juma by President William Ruto as the chief National Security Advisor has marked the latest highlight in a career spanning three decades, which she has been able to serve three presidents successfully as an advisor of various matters of national importance. After serving under President Mwai Kibaki as an advisor on diplomatic matters, ambassador to Ethiopia and a Principal Secretary.

Dr Juma then served as an advisor again to former President Uhuru Kenyatta on matters diplomacy before she was appointed as Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, then Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs between 2016 - 2018. She was then appointed as Cabinet Secretary for Defence between 2018 -2020, when she was again transferred to the Ministry of Energy. She is now going continuing with her public service career as an advisor on matters security to President William Ruto.
