COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has now gone against his previous stand that the Former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya is the Western Region kingpin, a move that comes two days after he met President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi.
Speaking in Khwisero on Saturday, the vocal trade unionist claimed that the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi is now the new Western kingpin, calling upon the Western Region to support him and work with the government of the day.
In the past Atwoli termed Musalia as a weak leader without any political clout, and who had done nothing for the community since his installation as the kingpin in December 2016, and that was the reason the Western leaders and who rallied behind the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance camp led by Raila settled on Oparanya on December 31st 2021 at Bukhungu Stadium.
Atwoli who was against Ruto's presidential bid before the August 9th polls made his first U-turn by recognizing Ruto as the president following the Supreme Court decision to uphold his win, and since then he has been supporting the KKA government.
