News of Mike Gitonga's appointment as the new government of Kenya spokesperson has spread all over like wild fire. The former journalist now finds himself in a somewhat familiar territory where he will be tasked with informing kenyans about the government agenda. But, who is Mike Gitonga?
Mike Gitonga is currently an employee of Mama Rachel Ruto. He is serving as the director of corporate communication at the office of the first lady, Mama Rachel Ruto.
Before his appointment as Mama Rachel Ruto's staffer, Gitonga also served in a number of local media houses. He made a name for himself when working at The Standard media group's KTN where he was a presenter for the early morning show.
Previously, he had also worked at the Family Media's Family TV as a news anchor before quitting active journalism and later finding his way into Mama Rachel Ruto's office.
Gitonga is a communication expert but also has knowledge in electrical engineering, communication as previously mentioned, branding and leadership development according to a report by a local media house.
