Simba Arati is the current governor of Kisii County. He is the former Member of parliament of Dagoreti North Constituency. Simba served as mp for two terms.
Richard Onyonka is the current senator of Kisii County. He is the former Member of parliament of Kitutu Chache South. Onyonka has served as mp for three terms.
In the August 2022 election, Richard and Simba Arati were compaigning as one team together with the Kisii Woman mp, Dorice Donya Toto Aburi of Wiper. All of them won their respective seats.
Yesterday senator Onyonka held a meeting with Kitutu Chache South leaders and residents in his home ground. Talking in vernacular, Onyonka claimed that Arati was not ruling the county appropriately. He said that Arati employs people he knows from USA and Nairobi. He also accused Arati of employing his cousin.
According to the Senator Arati was abusing people, saying that they are poor and it is his money that gave him votes. He said that Arati does not inform him of anything that happens in the county. He also said that Arati moves around telling people that he is the one who buys suits and fuels his car for him. Onyonka said that he had warned Arati of his way of ruling but Arati couldn't listen to him and so he decided to hold the meeting to make people aware of what was happening.
Onyonka said that it is Kitutu Chache that gave Arati alot of votes in the gobernatorial race. He said that he wanted to vie for the gubernatorial seat in this 2022 August elections but stepped down for Arati since former Kisii governor, James Ongae was from Kitutu Chache and he did want people to say that they are greedy for power.
The kisii Senator also advised the governor to forgive those who wronged him. He said that during their compaigns they had vowed that if they win they were to serve the kisii people well to remove them from the bondage of poverty.
Onyonka said that he will hold other meetings with other people to let them know of what is happening. Onyonka also said that if Arati will not change, they will start a compaign next year of sending him home and he will vie for gubernatorial seat in 2027 general election.
