Former prime minister Raila Odinga has posed a great risk to the foundation and the strength of a handshake, following his latest statement accusing the government due to the violence witnessed in Bonchari and Juja byelections.
Despite that his party ODM won in Bonchari, Raila has condemned the government saying that what was witnessed is an abuse of power and an arrogant display of impunity by few overzealous and bellicose government functionaries.
He continues to say that an election process is an opportunity for people to express their will through the ballot and not an avenue to pursue political interests. Condemning the government that is under the control of the president threatens their relationship and the handshake.
He claims that security officers were used by those who were out there to conduct political experiments rather than serving the people. The blame is directed to internal security cabinet minister Fred Matiangi who is in a close relationship with the president.
