Regions That Have High Voter Numbers And Could Determine The Next President Of Kenya

The Kenya constitution provides that general elections should be conducted after every five years on the second Tuesday of the election year, the last general elections having taken place in 2017, Kenya is ripe for general elections on 9th August 2022.

The same constitution provides that a president is eligible to be in government for a two-term period hence president Uhuru Kenyatta is serving his last year in office having reigned for two terms now. The race to succed president Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to be tough as the number of registered voters is expected to rise by six million.

In the new projected numbers by region, there are regions which have a greater voter number and will largely determine the next president of Kenya.

Rift Valley - 6.4m

Central - 4m

Nyanza - 3.7m

Nairobi - 3m

Western - 2.65m

Coast - 2.36m

North Eastern - 687, 634

Upper Eastern - 1.98m

Lower Eastern - 2.08m
