Ruto Set to Win Big as Mt Kenya East MPs Push Speaker Muturi to Join His Camp

The rift in the larger Mt Kenya region has continued to widen as leaders from East demand that it's time for them to occupy the top seat. Politicians from three counties (Embu, Tharaka Nithi, Meru) which form Mt Kenya East have endorsed the National Assembly speaker, Justin Muturi, to be their spokesperson.

Deputy president, William Ruto, is believed to command a huge following in the region and this was seen in the just concluded by-elections which saw Ruto allies triumph. His popularity has once again prevailed following the recent push by a section of legislators from Mt Kenya East.

The deputy president William Ruto is set to leap big if the push by Mt Kenya East leaders will bear fruits. Tharaka member of parliament, George Murugara, and his Mbeere North counterpart, Charles Muriuki, have requested Speaker Justin Muturi to join Ruto's camp.

Speaking on Saturday 31st at Tharaka Nithi county, the lawmakers said that it is evident that Ruto is the people's favorite for the top seat. They requested Muturi to join DP's camp to increase his chances of being in the next government.

"We as the people of Mt Kenya East have agreed that Justin Muturi is our kingpin. We however request him to join hands with Ruto so that they can form the next government. Our people want Ruto to be their next president," said Tharaka lawmaker.

Justin Muturi who was also present in the event avoided to respond to these calls by the legislators. He however asked all the 2022 aspirants to accept the outcome of the election.

If the National Assembly speaker will adhere to these calls, it will be a major boost for William Ruto in his quest for the presidency.
