Why William Ruto will not attend the 7th annual Devolution Conference

Deputy President William Ruto will not be able to attend the 7th annual Devolution Conference which was scheduled on Friday in Makueni county. David Mugonyo who is part of the DP's communication team saiys that William Ruto will be in Nyandarua county seeking support for his bottom-up economic model which he is relying on to push his 2022 presidential bid.

However, the DP's speech will be read by a representative who has been described as "a respectable person in the society" by the DP's communication team. The representative's identity remains concealed. In the past events, it has always been a norm for the president to open the three-day conference and the Deputy President to close it on the last day.

This year's Devolution Conference is the last one under Jubilee government and is being held at Makueni Boys High school. During this function all the 47 governors meet to discuss how they have been performing in their various counties, the challenges they are facing and the way forward.
