Former KANU party member and North Rift veteran politician Jonathan Bii popularly as Chelilim has once again confirmed that he has fully left Gideon Moi's camp and is now in Deputy President William Ruto's team in preparation for the fast approaching 2022 general elections. While speaking at Tarakwa ward in Kesses constituency on Friday afternoon, Chelilim expressed his confidence in clinching the already heated Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat.
Chelilim who had joined the second in command for the burial ceremony of former KANU era councillor and legendary politician Mzee Elijah Arap Maina who died at the age of over 100 said that he is willing to work with William Ruto and is sure that they will emerge winners. Chelilim also urged all those who were present at the burial and the entire Kalenjin community to rally behind William Ruto's State House ambitions and pledged his full support adding that anyone from the community eying the presidential seat is already locked out.
"Over 300,000 youths who have been trained by governor Mandago do not have jobs and those people are waiting for you and me your excellency. I wish you well and I support you 100 per cent. We are all going together to the side of Deputy President and we will not allow any other person to distract or cheat us," Chelilim said.
The burial ceremony was dominated by area politics as William Ruto was accompanied by nearly all the political heavyweights in the county and all of them got the opportunity to express their political opinions.
Governor Jackson Mandago will be exiting the office in 2022 and the race to succeed him is already at the climax. Eldoret based billionaire and business mogul Zedekiah Kiprop and Kenya's envoy to Pakistan both who are eying the seat were present and also used their opportunities to drum up support for their gubernatorial bids.
