Deputy President William Ruto will mid this week take his campaigns to Nyanza Region, particularly Kisii County after more than 100 of his supporters ditched United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party for Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

This also comes few days after his point man Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi hinted of sticking with Raila since the ODM party sponsored his joint ticket with Governor James Ongwae.

According to a report by People Daily, Ruto will be seeking to identify the problem in the UDA-Kisii chapter as well as try to woo more residents to his wing ahead of the 2022 elections.

At the same time, ODM has also witnessed a fall out between Governor Ongwae and Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati after the latter announced his gubernatorial interests.

Both Arati and Ongwae are leading two factions of the ODM party, with the governor supporting Senator Sam Ongeri to take after him in 2022.

Ongwae has DG Joash Maangi and Kisii Woman Representative Janet Ong'era in his side while Arati has Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka who is eyeing the county's Senatorial position.
