Uhuru Challenged as President Joe Biden Takes Action to Cushion Americans From High Fuel Prices

President Uhuru Kenyatta has been challenged to follow in the footsteps of American President Joe Biden and cushion Kenyans from his fuel prices.

This was after the American President Biden took drastic measures to cushion Americans. While addressing Americans on Wednesday evening on the recent hike in fuel prices, Biden said the recent hike had been caused by Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

He went ahead to instruct Congress to suspend the federal gas tax for three months in the states to provide Americans with the much-needed relief.

"The price of gas is up by almost $2 a gallon since Putin accelerated his military build-up, and those high prices pose a challenge for working families. Today, I'm calling on Congress to suspend the federal gas tax for three months to provide Americans some much-needed relief," stated Biden on Wednesday.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has also been challenged to follow in Biden's footsteps and suspend the high tax amounting to Ksh 60 per litre of petrol on fuel prices in the country to protect Kenyans.

This comes even as the government has announced an end to the subsidy of the fuel prices which is now expected to push petrol prices to as high as Ksh185 per litre starting next month.
