The former President of Zambia, Edgar Chagwa Lungu has shocked many after declaring his early retirement just days after he was defeated. Edgar was defeated by the sitting President of Zambia Hakainde Hichilema with a nearly million votes but out of all, he conceded defeat and Hichilema was sworn in to serve Zambian's for the next 5 years. Edgar was born in November, 1956 and had served Zambia as President for just one term.
Speaking to Journalist today after a church service at United Church of Zambia (UCZ) All Saints Congregation in Chainda, Edgar declared that he will retire from active politics by 2026 and very soon he will be handing over the Party's head to his successor.
He said, "I am not available for 2026, the PF should now rebrand itself with new leadership, when the right time comes, we will announce the PF President and I will take leave, I have run my race, let me rest."
On announcing that, many people have reacted as shown;
Mumba Ng'oma; Good decision, time to rest and enjoy the works of your hands indeed and surely we will not forget what we went through we thank you sir.
Chris Mutinva Mumba; Excellent decision may God continue to bless you.
Thelma Siame Kapapa; I salute you sir. You ran your race and in your tenure we enjoyed the peace as a country, that is huge...May Psalms 91 be applied in your life. God bless you.
