Earlier today, there has been riots in the streets of Kiagu in South Imenti after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission disqualified a candidate from Chama Cha Kazi party. The party is headed by Gatundu North Member of Parliament Moses Kuria. The residents in the region accused the United Democratic Alliance of colluding with IEBC in the disqualification process.
The demonstration has raised reactions as people demand answers on the reason behind the disqualification. It has been alleged that some politicians linked to the deputy president leaked some information to IEBC that led to the unanimous decision. It has also been alleged that the move was to prevent Moses Kuria and the deputy president from collision after the release of electoral results.
The two leaders have been on extreme ends in the recent past after differences arose from reluctance in selecting a running mate ahead of the 2022 general elections.
