Opinion: Hon. Isaac Rutto could win Bomet County gubernatorial seat in August poll

Bomet county governor Pro. Hillary Barchok faces a litmus test in the gubernatorial race of Bomet county with other two politically muscles candidates who are ready to dethrone him 9th August. The candidates includes; the former governor Hon. Isaac Rutto and also the party leader of CCM and Bomet county Businessman Mr. Benard Mutai of ANC was a former Jubilee party chair in the county.

Bomet county politics has reached its peak promising an epic race between the former governor and the incumbent governor. Prof Barchok became the governor after the death of the county governor the late Joyce Laboso and the former governor has the potential to recapture his seat that he unsuccessfully defend in 2017 general election where Jubilee's candidate Hon. Joyce Laboso, now deceased, won the the seat.

Despite the county has been considered UDA stronghold and party's backyard the county has a different cup of tea for deputy president Dr. William Ruto who played a key role as the region as the a kingpin according to the latest survey conducted by the Mizani Africa revealed that the former governor leads the command with 50.5 percent and the incumbent governor Prof. Barchok is the second with 44.5 percent this might ruffle feathers with deputy president.

Apart from that Mr. Rutto has been in the political career and have more experience in Bomet county politics compared to his competitors hence he has the opportunity to recapture his seat.
