It is a sad day for the entire kirinyaga County after a famous politician from the area was pronounced dead.

According to news just in Bernard Kathanga died at a Nairobi hospital where he was receiving treatment of the deadly cancer disease.

Talking to the media his family has confirmed the sad news of his untimely demise.

A majority of netizens whp knew the parliamentarian well have expressed their deepest condolences to the family and friends of the late Kathanga.

Bernard Kathanga was the man under whose watch Co-operative House, a sturdy Nairobi landmark that withstood the August 7, 1998 bomb blast was built lists the 25 storey bell bottom shaped building among his key achievements in a life spanning 90 years.

From the archives Kathanga was political animal in his early days.

Kathanga in 1955 formed and chaired Embu African Democratic Party (EADP) that together with Tom Mboya’s People People’s Congress Party (PCP) and Nairobi African District Union (NADU) of Argwings Kodhek later merged with Kenya African Union (KAU) to form Kenya African National Union (KANU) in 1961.
