This was after Ruto, who was on his Kenya Kwanza campaigns in the region, was approached by a school girl who had failed to enroll for form one due to a lack of school fees.
Ruto, who was touched by her story, granted the girl identified as Leah a whooping Ksh200,000 to pay for her school fees for four years. Ruto instructed the woman and her daughter to pick up the money from Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja.
The girl was accompanied by her need mother to the rally.
"Leah is telling me that she finished Std 8 and has been called to join secondary school. The mother is here? haya kuja mothee, mrembo hajaenda shule kwa sababu hana pesa. Huyu ni mtoto wako? mbona hajaenda shule? she has missed school fees but kwa sababu amekutana na hustler, I will give you Ksh200, to pay for school fees for four years. I will leave the money with Senator Sakaja, chukua namba ya simu ya huyu mama" Ruto said as he instructed his Aides
It is a noble cause that left the crowd cheering and shouting DP Ruto's name. Ruto had toured the city in search of votes ahead of the August presidential race.
