Just a few months after taking office, Meru County Governor Hon. Kawira Mwangaza has been formally removed from his position.

According to reports, 67 of the 69 members of the county assembly in Meru voted in favor of the motion calling for her impeachment.

Days before she was impeached, the now-former Governor pleaded with President William Ruto to spare her from being removed from office. The leader first met Ruto in Meru while a significant project there was being put into service.

The Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission will soon declare that Meru County voters will hold a by-election to replace her after Senate's appproval.

The saga against her started sometime back where the ward leaders accused Governor Kawira of abusing Meru's highest office. Before proceeding to decide on Hon Kawira earlier today, the MCAs cheered and danced.
