Raila Given List of 5 Powerful Ministries he Must Give Away if He's to be Helped to Become President

ODM leader Raila Odinga will have to give in to a set of demands if he is to get the Western Kenya vote in 2022, a section of area leaders have now said.

The region is among those seen as his strongholds, amid attempts by his leading opponent; Deputy President William Ruto, to get a piece of it.

His allies from the region now want a number of demands met if they are to campaign for him, including five cabinet ministries in his government.

The ministries they want are the Finance, Health, Interior, Agriculture and Infrastructure, according to resolutions of the latest meeting by area leaders.

The meeting was hosted by Luanda MP Chris Omulele in Kakamega, where it was also decided that the former Prime Minister picks area governor Wycliffe Oparanya as running mate.

They held that the governor has since sacrificed his own presidential bid in favour of Raila's and should, as a result, be repaid with the deputy position.

"He has contributed to unifying the region and has an impressive performance track record,” they said in a statement, as was seen by The Standard.

They said that they have a plan that will help Raila get the region's vote, once again declaring their full support for him and his presidential ambitions.

“We have worked out a strategic plan to ensure that he wins majority votes in the region and a lion’s share of all elective seats,” they added.

This makes things even tougher for Raila, who is already under pressure to give the running mate seat to the Central Kenya, the most populated region.

On Sunday, a section of his allies from the area, led by Maragua MP Mary Wamaua, demanded that he picks former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth.
