Kumbe, Uproar Online as Government Abruptly Suspends Kshs 100 Maize Flour just 4 Days after Election

Kenyans have taken to their social media platforms to show their anger after the government abruptly suspended the Kshs 100 Maize flour, just 4 days after election.

A memo sent by ministry of Agriculture,Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives from the Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya to Principal Secretary,State Department of Crops Development and Agricultural Research Livestock to suspend the ongoing maize flour subsidy programme has sparked heated debate online.

The Memo Reveals that the government has no enough money to continue funding the programme and calling for its immediate suspension.

Kenyans however read a different script and alleged that the programme was just a political tool to wooe voters.

See some of their reactions below;

President Uhuru Kenyatta had earlier directef that 2kg maize flour be sold at Kshs 100 down from its earlier price of Ksh 230. This he said would help cushion Kenyans from the devastating harsh economic situation.

The Kenya Kwanza Alliance brigades led by Deputy President William Ruto however had read malice in the directive while alleging that it was a move aimed at hoodwinking voters to favour Azimio team, allegations that the government completely denied.
