Raila Odinga has asked the government not to provide security tomorrow, July 7, as President William Ruto has ordered. Prof. Kithure Kindiki was assured by Azimio's leader that the forum would be peaceful and that no property would be destroyed. Raila went on to defend his public forum meeting, claiming that it will be based on public discussion of some of the issues confronting citizens rather than incitement.
Azimio's principal will also hold a parallel meeting on December 12, which is a public holiday. He refers to the December 12 meeting as a gathering of patriotic citizens. This comes two days after the IEBC vice chairman resigned, not to mention Julius Nyang'aya, who did the same a week ago.
According to reliable sources, top Azimio principals such as Kalonzo, Martha Karua, and Oparanya will attend the public forum. The meeting at Kamukunji Ground is expected to begin in a few minutes or by midday.
