Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and CS Eugene Wamalwa's linked Democratic Action Party - Kenya (DAP-K) have launched formidable forces to face off Musalia Mudavadi's Amani National Congress (ANC) party candidate and Incumbent senator Cleophas Malala for Kakamega gubernatorial contest.
ODM candidate Fernandez Barasa has received significant boost after Azimio - One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga alongside Kakamega governor Wickliffe Oparanya banked consolidated Lugari MP Ayub Savula (DAP-K) to withdraw from the race and deputize Barasa on Azimio - One Kenya ticket.
Savula bolted out of the battle to deputize Barasa I the efforts to defend the seat for ODM party following Oparanya's second term lapse.
Oparanya banked on Barasa/Savula ticket that will hopefully secure the county's apex position n forthcoming election. He also promised of lined-up hailstorm campaigns in the region to deliver the county seat to Azimio - One Kenya.
"The Baraza - Savula gubernatorial ticket has been sealed this evening. I take this opportunity to thank Hon Savula for shelving his ambition in favour of FCPA Fernandez Barasa. I thank Baba too for his role in the deal. We are now set to hit the road running so as to deliver the county to Azimio" said Oparanya
