'When I Went To The United States, I Was Mistaken For An American' Isaac Mwaura Recalls

In a statement that might unfortunately lead to many offensive and misinformed conclusions, former Jubilee party nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura revealed that in 2019 when he had gone to the United States of America shortly, at a time when the country was mired in the divisive Trump vs Biden contest which divided the country along racial lines of Black against White, he was mistaken for an American.

The one-time Orange Democratic Movement party member who now associates with the United Democratic Alliance party linked to the Deputy President was speaking when he made an appearance on KTN’s show NewsLine which was hosted by Fred Indimuli. Also in the studio was Igembe North member of parliament, Maoka Maore.

Mwaura was responding to comments by his Parliament colleague Maoka Maore, and a question from the show’s host.

Fred Indimuli had asked about the mood on the mountain as pertaining to Raila Odinga’s candidacy and whether he could be packaged and sold to the residents there.

Giving his American experience, he said that unfortunately for Raila, over the years there’s been a sustained and spirited effort to try and demonise him in Central Kenya, and it had worked.

He asserted that presently, it was very difficult to present Raila as an acceptable candidate to Mount Kenya residents, and if this is to be achieved then there will be required massive and extensive groundwork to try and undo all the damage that has already been done to his person.

Linking this to the US, Mwaura said that during his time in there in 2019, the country was in the heat of the 2020 elections campaign mood, and the cab driver who would drive him around every day was so brainwashed and kept talking about how America would be ruined if Trump was voted out.

Mwaura revealed that the fellow mistook him for an American, and would constantly feed him with all kinds of Far-Right propaganda.

Mwaura concluded but not without disclosing that the biggest culprit who was enthusiastically involved in soiling Raila’s name in Mt. Kenya was Meru governor, Kiraitu Murungi.
