David Murathe Attacks Mt Kenya Residents After Uhuru Was Embarrassed in His Own Backyard

Jubilee Party vice chairman David Murathe has hit out at Mt Kenya resident after the ruling party suffered a humiliating loss during the recent concluded by-election.

Murathe said that other regions are standing with their leaders who are considered to be their kingpins but in Mt Kenya the situation is different as President Uhuru Kenyatta was humiliated by other parties.

According to Murathe, when ODM leader Raila Odinga or Deputy President William Ruto want support from their region, the region does not disappoint them.

But in Mt Kenya, the Jubilee vice chairman said when Uhuru asks them to support someone, they usually tell him they are not interested and are independent.

“How is it possible that Raila Odinga can ask the people of Kisumu to vote for an Indian, Shakeel Shabbir and they vote for him. William Ruto can ask the people of Eldoret to vote for an Indian, Mishra Swarup and they do.”

“But here in Mt Kenya when President Uhuru Kenyatta tells you to vote for someone, the people will tell him they are not interested and will try to rub his nose telling him how they are so independent,” added Murathe.

Murathe however revealed that the change of heart in the region could be because people don’t have money in their pockets due to the current situation, Covid-19, that has caused job losses and are voting against Uhuru’s wishes as a way to protest their current situation.

“Under the current circumstances under Covid we know there is no money in people’s pockets and there can be protest votes. But these people should know this is the same Uhuru who gave us the Economic Stimulus programme. So they should give him time to manage the pandemic and economy before they start reaping the benefits,” he added.
