Government To Shut Down Media Houses Used To Spread Hate Speech

Interior cabinet secretary Fred Matiang'i has threatened to shut down media houses that will be used by politicians to spread hate speech and tribalism ahead of next year's general elections.

Interior cabinet secretary was speaking during the launch of a local station in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua county.Matiang'i further stated that his ministry was ready to invoke the public order act by shutting down the said media outlets.

Interior cabinet secretary insisted that the government will do everything in order to ensure that there will be a free, fair and peaceful elections.

Interior cabinet secretary Fred Matiangi added that politicians were free to conduct political campaigns anywhere in the country and sale their agendas.He further added that the difference in opinion is not enough reason to cause instability in the country.

He further directed the police administration to act firmly to any act of political misconduct in person rallies and assured the country that the police will not favour anyone in enforcing the law.
