The 19 MCAs who served the county in the wake of devolution vowed to support, campaign to ensure Katuku wins in the elections slated for 18th March giving Katuku a major boost in his campaigns.
Speaking at the Maendeleo Chap Chap offices in Machakos, the former MCAs narrated that they are supporting Katuku because he is the best fit for the seat.
Led by former Kithimani MCA, Sammy Nduva they noted that Katuku is well versed with parliament operations since he was once an MP citing that his experience in lobbying resources can not be matched.
"We have listened to all those who are vying for this seat. Therefore, we have settled on Katuku because he is experienced and is the fittest for this Senatorial seat. He has earlier served as an MP and also as a minister," Sammy narrated.
The former Kithimani MCAs maintained that Katuku has a clean development record during his tenure which cannot be matched.
The MCAs who had earlier this year vowed to support UDA's candidate Ulbarnus Muthama alias Ngengele noted that after a serious soul searching, they have finally settled on Katuku.
Former Syokimau/Mlolongo ward MCA Rachael Nduku who is also among the 19 noted that as the pioneers of devolution and understanding the roles of a senator, Katuku remains the best fit for the job.
Rachael has vowed that as former MCAs, they will go across the county educating people about a senator's roles and why they should elect Mutua Katuku on 18th March.
"As the pioneers of devolution, we have come here in support of the incoming senator Mutua Katuku, we have decided to support him because he is mature and he has experience with government operations," Rachael narrated.
Machakos by-elections come following the death of senator Boniface Kabaka who passed on late last year.
