Inside Story of Withdrawal of Presidential Poll Petition

On Monday 22nd, February, the former National Unity Platform(NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine instructed his legal team to withdraw the case he had filed in the supreme court challenging the victory of president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the just concluded January 14th general elections.

While addressing the nation at NUP party offices, Bobi Wine revealed that the chief Justice Owiny Dollo and other two supreme court judges refused to step down from hearing his petition.

Bobi Wine accused the chief justice of being bias in the manner he handles his case. He claims that Owiny Dollo was one of the president Yoweri Museveni defense lawyers and it will be very difficult for him to rule against Museveni.

He has also alleged that the chief justice has been severally spotted at state house and his mission is still undisclosed.

He has also accused the government of using the security operatives to arrest several of his witnesses in the presidential petition making his case to lose weight.

The decision by the supreme court to deny him to the opportunity to file an additional 127 affidavits to add weight to his petition is one of reason he opted to withdraw the petition.
