Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati on Wednesday flagged off the laying of tarmac on Musikoma- Kanduyi dual carriage way.
The construction of the dual carriage way and Masinde Muliro stadium in Kanduyi constituency was the priority to Bungoma county residents. His communication team has been blamed for misleading Wangamati.
In his address to the press, Wangamati said that the dual-carriage way construction is set to replace the over 50 year old road that could no longer serve the present Bungoma population.
‘’This road was constructed 50 years ago through my government I decided to construct dual carriage way from Musikoma to Kanduyi to open Bungoma town and attract investors,’’ Wangamati said.
He added that once the dual carriage way will be complete, it’s expected to solve congestion on the busy stretch, solve the perennial drainage issues that have made the town inaccessible during rainy season, provide easy and faster access to markets and social amenities and allow Bungoma to stand out.
This came barely a day after Kenya Railway Corporation started demolishing buildings sitting on railway land.
Popular business operators in Bungoma have suffered a blow after their building was demolished by Kenya Railway Corporation.
