The elite General Service Unite squads has been deployed to deputy president William Ruto home in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu county, after he was declared the president Elect by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission through its chairman Wafula Chebukati.
The second in command Dr William Ruto was declared president elect yesterday after garnering a total of 50.48% of all tallied votes placing him a head of his closest competitor Raila Odinga who secured 48.56%.
Before yesterday, William Ruto Sugoi residence was guarded by officers from the Critical Installation Police Unite (CIPU) of the administration police. The Administration Police officers have been withdrawn and replaced by more than a dozen Red barets.
After GSU officers took charge of the residence, they started scanning every vehicle entering and leaving the home. This inline with the security backup that the president elect should get immediately after winning the elections in the country.
