“No Mr President," Uhuru's Roadside Declaration Lands His Govt In Trouble

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has been ordered by a sole arbitrator, Mr Allen Gichuhi, to pay Sh158 million to a company, Relief & Mission Logistics

After listening to both parties, the arbitrator awarded the compensation to on grounds that the KAA failed to show how public interest prompted the cancellation of the bus deal.

Relief & Mission Logistics won the contract to ferry passengers on the airside at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for a period of eight years from 2014.

This contact was however terminated after President Kenyatta visited the airport in May 2015 on a different mission and questioned how the KAA could pay Sh11 million every month for five buses, prompting a legal dispute.

KAA cancelled the contract saying it was a necessity, convenience and in public interest. The cancellation lead caused the company to to suffer financial losses and damaged its reputation.
