Deputy president William Ruto will be making his first stab at the presidency in 2022 after Supporting president Uhuru kenyatta twice.
Ruto will be battling it out with ODM Leader Raila Odinga who will be trying his luck the fifth time.
However, some key leaders from the region who used to subscribe to his brand of politics seem to be reading from a different script.
Former CS for agriculture Mwangi Kiunjuri is one such leader who has even refused to fold up his party TSP aggainst Ruto's request.
Now on Saturday, the TSP leader took a swipe at the DP for "lying" that clamor for Constitutional Change is only meant to enable people get seats.
He agreed with Raila that there is need for Constitutional Change to enable the community get it's fair share of the national cake through one man one shilling.
In another thinly veiled attack at the DP, Kiunjuri blasted Ruto for calling himself the region's kingpin before even voting is done.
"Let no one claim to be a kingpin of mount kenya region, you can't claim to be kingpin and yet no Elections have been held", Kiunjuri said in a funeral.
He further said that anyone who wants to be supported by the people from central must promise that within the first 100 days of his presidency, he will change the constitution to ensure that the region gets its fair share of the national cake.
Kiunjuri's remarks comes at a time when the DP is compaigning on a platform of no need to change the Constitution while Raila strongly believes that there is need to change the laws.
Kiunjuri is part of Mount Kenya forum for Change that brings together NARC Kenya leader Martha karua and chama Cha Kazi's Moses kuria.
His remarks will be sweet music to the former prime minister who has been trying his best to climb the vote rich mount kenya region.
