All governors from 47 Counties have received a warning from President William Ruto's administration, according to a recent instruction shared by Anthony Muchiri, chair of the Public Service Commission (PSC).

Following information that 40 newly elected governors seek the right to remove chief officers and other workers chosen by their predecessors, governors who nominated their CoG leadership yesterday in a retreat in Mombasa have been cautioned.
The PSC Chair, Mr. Muchiri, has stated that they will not permit such measures because the governors run the risk of stepping on legal landmines if they fire county employees whose contracts are still in effect. He also disclosed that the government will reinstate any public employees who had been fired improperly.

According to Mr. Muchiri, county employees cannot be held accountable or punished for signing agreements that went beyond the conditions of the people who hired them.
