The Madaraka day's celebration are ongoing at Jomo Kenyatta international Stadium, Kisumu. Several dignitaries and high profile leaders have attended the ceremony led by president Uhuru Kenyatta, dp William Ruto, Raila Odinga, Fred Matiangi gov. Anyang Nyong and several others. The guest of honor was Burundi's president Evariste Ndayishimiye.
As the program was lined up, the celebrations were to be commenced by Uhuru Kenyatta inspecting the guard of honor, Military planes flying by over the air, military personnels dropping in parachutes then traditional dances. The luo traditional dancers took stage first them lastly the traditional dancers from Burundi were given a chance.
Gov. Anyang Nyong was to give opening remarks then welcome Ruto who after addressing the nation would hand over to Uhuru to address the nation and conclude the ceremony. The order was followed until It was time for Uhuru to speak.
Uhuru Kenyatta surprisingly broke the protocol and invited Raila Odinga to speak contrary to the lineup. This cheered the residents of Kisumu very as Raila was not accorded with the chance to speak.
