Ababu Namwamba, the incumbent Cabinet Secretary of Sports and Youth Affairs is a lawmaker by profession and a close confidant of President William Ruto. He is among the few leaders who defied President Uhuru's order by pledging unwavering support for President William Ruto.
Fortunately, President William Ruto acknowledged his effort by awarding him the cabinet slot on behalf of the Kuria community and Mulembe nation in the Western Kenya region for casting vote in favor of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance leader.
Since he began his journey as the Cabinet Secretary of Sports and Youth Affairs, Ababu Namwamba has made tremendous moves to bring changes to the department that were already diminishing due to poor management and unworkable strategies.

Ababu Namwamba has successfully brought back current Kenya's best footballer, Victor Wanyama, to play for the national team, Harambee Stars. Victor Wanyama announced his retirement from playing for Kenya's national team when Kenya failed to secure a space in the 2021 AFCON tournament.
Victor Wanyama is an international player who has played for Tottenham Hot Spurs in England Premier League. He is currently playing for the Montreal club in the United States. Victor Wanyama is expected to bring in expertise in football which he has learned in England, the US, and other places he has played soccer in.

Ababu Namwamba has pledged to discuss with Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to lower taxes for companies who are sponsoring football clubs in Kenya. For example, Sportpesa has played a huge role in sponsoring Kenya Premier League. These companies spend a lot of money to oversee the success of Kenyan footballers.

The Cabinet Secretary of Sports and Youth Affairs has also held a fruitful talk with the President of FIFA to allow Kenya to participate in international football. Kenya was banned during the previous regime for breaking FIFA rules and regulations.
Ababu Namwamba has also laid bare his plans to begin under-19 hustler soccer. As a career, the players in this tournament will be paid every month, just like English Premier League players and others. This is a move by the Sports CS to ensure Kenya's football is competitive enough by 2030.
Moreover, Ababu Namwamba has begun following the stadium's government funds which were lost during the previous administration. Some stadiums have stopped the construction process because the money has been pocketed by some individuals through corruption.
Therefore, Ababu Namwamba is currently the best-performing Cabinet Secretary in President Ruto's administration. He has done several things in less than 2 months since he took over his office.
