After over 30 years in business, Naivasha industrialist Tabitha Karanja and owner of Keroche Breweries Limited based in Naivasha has decided to enter into murky waters of politics after a 4-month consultative exercise with family and friends.

Tabitha as she is popularly known has decided to vie for Nakuru county Senatorial seat come next year general elections slated for August 9th 2022. She will be seeking to succeed the vocal County's Senator Hon Susan Kihika who has shown interest in Nakuru's gubernatorial race.Kihika wants to dethrone incumbent Governor Lee Kinyanjui who of late has been crisscrossing the vast county popularising Raila Odinga’s Presidential bid.

Tabitha claims she is motivated to vie for the coveted Senatorial seat by the challenges she has faced as an investor and entrepreneur. She has stated that given the opportunity, she would introduce laws and bills that would caution other investors from unfair business practices. Tabitha Karanja is an enviably strong woman who has sacrificed a lot and worked tirelessly to build a very successful liquor company with brands that have given foreign companies a run for their money in the local market. Her journey in Kenya’s drinks industry started in 1997 when she started a fortified wine business aimed at the lower end of the market.

She is married to Joseph Karanja and together, they are the parents of four children; James Karanja, Anerlisa Muigai, Edward Muigai and the late Tecra Muigai.
