The country was left in a state of confusion on Friday morning after the ODM party retreated it's earlier statement on the names of Presidential candidates who showed interest to be the ODM flag bearers in 2022 that it had issued on April 1st 2021.
The party through a statement by the secretary general, Edwin Sifuna termed the announcement as a prank which was meant to confuse the media and their political opponents.
But, it might not have been just a prank as the ODM party has made Kenyans to believe. Fresh details have now emerged on President Uhuru Kenyatta role that saw the ODM party beat a hastily retreat.
According to the sources in the know, President Kenyatta intervened to ask the ODM leader to abandon his 2022 bid to focus on BBI and the handshake.
On the day of the announcement, Uhuru was with Raila touring various development projects in Nairobi and Kajiado before proceeding to Statehouse for a joint presser.
President Kenyatta is said to have asked Baba to drop his 2022 ambitions until the BBI is over.
It was after the statehouse Meeting, that the ODM party was forced to craft a lie that would be sellable to Kenyans on Raila's Presidency. The party in an announcement on Friday, struck Raila Odinga's name from the list leaving out Governors Joho and Oparanya.
Mr. Odinga's spokesman has told the Daily nation that the announcement was a work of an overzealous staff in the party which directly points at the Secretary General.
There are reports of an ongoing cold war among the ODM party top officials piting the Secretary General and two others.
