Former Prime Minister Tony Blair has suffered a huge setback after a prominent coast governor abandoned him in favor of Ruto. When Raila was in Mombasa recently, the governor did not attend his rallies, but Odinga continued to greet the people.

Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya accompanied Deputy President William Ruto and stated that he has been of great assistance to the people of Kwale County. DP Ruto, according to Mvurya, is the only politician who has taken the time to listen to the concerns impacting the coast region, as opposed to Odinga, who has been telling stories the entire time.

Mvurya, who hosted Deputy President William Ruto, stated that other coast governors are planning to join DP Ruto. Interestingly, Joho has skipped all Raila demonstrations along the coast, and has not been very vocal in its support for Raila in recent months.

This is certainly a major setback for Odinga, since if things continue in this direction, the coast region may heavily support Ruto rather than Raila. Most of Raila's coast-region friends have joined the UDA party and pledged to support Ruto for the presidency in 2022
