The former deputy speaker and Tharaka Nithi senator Kithure Kindiki has changed tune on the Building Bridges Initiative. The senator has been a supporter of the deputy president for a while now. He has been critisizing the handshake between president Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga. He has accused the two of running this country inform of dictatorship.
Today the senator through his Twitter account has vowed to throw his support between the two leaders. He has literally abandoned the political ideology of the deputy president William Ruto. The senator has illustrated why he has chosen to support the initiative which is full of controversy.
According to Kindiki the increased allocation of shareable revenue from the initial 15 percent to 35 percent is a good move. This is what has mainly made him change his mind on the intended constitutional changes. This i a good move which will see the development of many counties in the country. The county workers will receive more pay hence fewer strikes in the country.
As we speak the deputy president and his brigade are confused on either to support or reject the initiative. The second in command is agreeing and disagreeing at the same time with some of the proposals in the document. That is why Ruto has been relentlessly suggesting for a multi-choice referundum.
Currently the document has been accepted in about 3 counties in the country. 21 more counties are needed to hit the threshold. This is because only 24 counties are needed to approve the report.
