Chief Justice Martha Koome has skipped the Parliamentary induction event, where she was scheduled to deliver the keynote address, when Azimo MPs protested against her.
During the session, Deputy Speaker Gladys Shollei stated that President of the Court of Appeal, Daniel Musinga, would deliver the speech in lieu of Chief Justice Koome.
"The Chief Justice is represented by His Lordship Justice Daniel Musinga. His presentation will focus on interrelationships and interdependence between the legislature and the judiciary ,"Shollei commented.
Members of Parliament (MPs) associated with the Azimio party have challenged the allocation of time to Chief Justice Martha Koome to address parliamentarians during their introduction.
On Monday, September 19, Nyando politician Jared Okelo told the media that the coalition party had no patience with CJ Koome since she had failed to uphold the Kenyan constitution.
Okelo stated that her attendance at the week-long orientation event would just reopen a fresh wound she inflicted on the party, citing in particular the words she used during the Supreme Court's decision on the presidential case.
