BBI a product of the handshake has been in every politicians mouth since 2018 and different views emerged on the constitution amendment. The allies to the president and the former prime minister have been ardently supporting the BBI but have received major opposition from allies to the Deputy president and even Linda Katiba which was founded by Martha Karua.
The BBI has however had a rough time lately with lots of setbacks on the rise that are aimed at hindering it's progress. It had successfully gone through the County assemblies and both the Senate and National Assembly but the High Court tough Ruling led to it's unexpected halt.
The proponents however did not give up in their quest to ensure its success. They proceeded to appeal the ruling and fortunately the hearing commenced today. The BBI is however receiving another challenge emerging from the upcoming General elections. The chairperson of IEBC articulated that the BBI could maybe be left out till 2022 after the General elections. Junet Mohammed also refuted claims of postponing the general elections. This could be a great challenge to the BBI hence it could be halted or even left out completely. This could be a really great toll on the proponents.
What do you think of this? Could the constitution amendment be done as planned? Please share your thoughts.
