Nyeri County senatorial aspirant under the Narc Kenya Party, Kabando Wa Kabando, on Sunday admitted that Deputy President William Ruto is popular in Mount Kenya Region counties, and that the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Camp must choose his party leader Raila Odinga as his running mate.
Kabando argued that Karua stands as the best person to deputize Raila ahead of the August elections, saying that she will not only marshal the region votes, but also the female votes across the country.
Shortly after Kabando's sentiments, aspiring Murang'a Senator under the ODM Party Pius Kinuthia also admitted that Ruto is ahead of Raila in popularity in the vote rich mt Kenya Region, but not in other parts of the country.
He went on to claim that Raila enjoys a support of at least 58 per cent in other parts of the country, and that he will be elected as the fifth president in the August elections.
"The truth is that DP Ruto’s ratings are slightly higher in Mount Kenya but not in the entire country. Baba’s ratings are at around 58% countrywide. Kenyans are saying baba tosha and Ruto ngoja (wait)," tweeted Kinuthia.
Their remarks comes days after the Azimio-OKA camp appointed a 7-member advisory panel that will scrutinize the best person to deputize Raila.
