United Democratic Movement aspirant for Siaya Governor's race Mr Nicholas Gumbo has been left without a running mate after his designate Deputy Governor Charles Owino quit the race to return to his earlier job at the the Kenya police service.
Charles Owino, a former police boss had decided to come together with Nicholas Gumbo to oppose the continued rule of ODM party in the county. They had in unison refused to stand down for the Incumbent senator James Orengo who is the ODM gubernatorial aspirant.
Earlier over the weekend, Gumbo had accused members of the ODM party of inciting voters. "It is insensitive for a leader to allege that my party leader Governor Ali Roba is an Al Shabaab," decried Gumbo.
Internal information from insiders allege that Charles Owino's withdrawal from the race is a game plan orchestrated by ODM party through Senator James Orengo. The Gumbo, Owino ticket has been Orengo's big headache.
